Ingredients

for the iced mocha:

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons mocha sauce see below
  • 1/4 cup strong espresso 1 large, or strongly-brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup ice cubes

for the mocha sauce:

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder I used Dutch-processed for better flavor
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  • Make the chocolate sauce: add all the ingredients to a medium pot, bring to a boil, whisking, until all the ingredients are combined and have a sauce consistency.
  • Make iced mocha: Add espresso and 2 tablespoons of chocolate sauce to a glass. Stir to combine and leave to cool.
  • Add ice then add milk. Stir to combine.
  • Top with remaining chocolate sauce (about 1/2 tablespoon).
  • Enjoy right away!

Notes

  • You can also use store-bought chocolate syrup to make this coffee.
  • You can also use natural cocoa powder, but Dutch-processed has a better flavor. You can also add a cube of milk chocolate to the sauce to make it more 'chocolatey'.
  • To make this taste even better, brew a cup of coffee and freeze it as ice cubes then use these coffee ice cubes to make your iced mocha.
  • You can also top your coffee with whipped cream. I used it to make the photos and it's delicious but to be honest I usually make my coffee without it. If you want to make homemade whipped cream, beat with a mixer 3 Tbsp of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar until stiff.
  • You can also use 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla to flavor your coffee.
  • To make the milk frothy, you could add all the ingredients into a jar or shaker and shake for 1-2 minutes or until the milk is frothy.
  • Calories = 1 coffee (the whole recipe). This is only an estimate!
