Ingredients

  • 1- inch (2.5 cm) piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey preferably raw honey
  • 3 1/2 cups water 850ml

Instructions

  • Peel the ginger and cut into thin slices. Add to 1 cup of boiling water. Let steep for 20 minutes.
  • Add honey and stir until dissolved. Add to a pitcher.
  • Juice 1/2 lemon (you should have about 1 1/2 tablespoons of juice) and slice the other half. Add to the pitcher.
  • Add the remaining 2 1/2 cups of very warm water. Stir to combine.
  • Enjoy right away!

Notes

  • Stir it before using. After it sits for a while, the upper part tends to be delicate in flavor and the bottom part very 'gingery', when not stirred.
  • Lemons can vary in sourness so adjust the amount of lemon juice and honey to your preferences.
  • I also like to add fresh basil or mint leaves if I have some leftover. Thinly sliced cucumber also works well here.
  • You can drink this mixture alone (this is what I'm usually doing) or add it to your tee (if doing so - add less water so that the beverage is more concentrated).
  • Calories = 1/4 of the recipe (1 serving). This is only an estimate!
