Ingredients

You will need just 5 ingredients to make these fun pizza mummies:

  • pizza dough – I used a good-quality store-bought dough
  • pizza sauce – I used a good-quality store-bought sauce
  • salami/pepperoni/ham – or omit it if you want these mini pizzas vegetarian
  • cheese – any kind of firm cheese, I used Emmentaler but you can also use low-moisture mozzarella
  • black olives – for the ‘eyes’

You could also add more toppings such as sliced mushrooms or veggies like bell peppers or zucchini.

Instead of pizza dough, you can use:

  • puff pastry – I already have a similar recipe for puff pastry pizza bites
  • English muffins
  • flatbread
  • toast
  • French bread
Labeled ingredients for pizza mummies.

Step by step instructions

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

A pizza dough sheet cut into rectangles.

STEP 1: Cut the sheet of pizza dough in half lengthwise then into 7 rectangles. You should have 14 rectangles in total. Cut 6 rectangles into thin strips (only 5 are shown on the photo, but you will need 6). You should have 8 whole rectangles and 6 rectangles cut into thin strips.

STEP 2: Place the 8 “whole” rectangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread pizza sauce on them, leaving some border around the edges.

STEP 3: Place the toppings on top of the sauce. Sliced olives as ‘eyes’ and cut into smaller pieces pepperoni/salami (or other toppings of your choice).

STEP 4: Place sliced into thin strips cheese on top, then arrange the remaining strips of pizza dough on top creating ‘bandages’.

STEP 5: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is lightly golden.

Leave to cool then enjoy!

Storage

These delicious mini pizzas will keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can reheat them in the oven or in a microwave. They can also be frozen – raw or baked.
